Canada Federal Act: Canadian Environmental Protection Act - phrasing "persistent organic pollutant" not used. Legislated per pollutant.
Australia PCBs are banned and there are a variety of state-based laws governing their storage, handling and disposal
Taiwan The Dirty Dozen POPs have been banned under the Agropesticide Act and the Environmental Agent Control Act. Under the Toxic Chemical Substances Control Act, Taiwan EPA has listed ten substances as announced toxic chemical substances, thus are strictly banned from manufacturing, importation, selling or using unless specifically for lab testing, research and educational purposes, namely PCBs, Chlordane, DDT, Dieldrin, Toxaphene, Endrin, Heptachlor, Adrin, Lindane, Hexachlorobenzene.
Malaysia -
Japan Our government policy is to eliminate PCBs by 2010. The Law of the Promotion of Environmentally Sound Destruction of PCB Wastes which was enacted in June, 2001, stated the disposition of PCBs to be completed by the year 2016.
